Sporting Carlisle opened the 13'-14' season with a comfortable 5-0 victory at home against Mount St. Mary's. The result was really never in doubt as Sporting opened the scoring inside 10 minutes. Senior Nick Schwab sprung free near midfield, eventually curling a shot into the far corner from close range. Schwab doubled his tally minutes later as he became the beneficiary of a great penetrating pass from fellow senior Zack Kaiser. All that was left to do was pass the ball into an empty net. Sophomore Santi Elizalde effectively put the game to bed as he pounced on a loose ball in the box to put the home side up three just before the half. The second half was more of the same as Schwab completed his hat trick. A corner produced another loose ball in the box which Schwab half-volleyed home from point blank range. To finish off the scoring two players new to the club combined brilliantly. Freshman James Lummis lofted a beauty of a ball over the center backs head to a streaking Jacob Kipnis, who finished for the 5th and best goal of the game.
