At Shippensburg University Sporting Carlisle won its first league game of the season, defeating F&M 1-0. The Red devils came roaring out of the gates, creating some good chances in the opening minutes. The balance of play evened out as the half drew on with the Diplomats creating the chance of the first half. Only a superb kick save from freshman goalkeeper Brindon Sutton prevented the Diplomats from taking the lead into the haltime break. In the second half Sporting began to force the issue more, looking much more menacing in the final third. However it was midway through the half before they were able to find a breakthrough. Senior Nick Schwab cut in from the right wing before rocking the underside of the crossbar with a thunderous left footed strike. In the ensuing scramble for the rebound sophomore Arland Crandell was able to poke home from close. Crandell's goal proved to be the winner as the defense closed the game out, preserving the clean sheet and Sporting's first 3 points of the fall campaign.
